Rick dangerous 128+
http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Rick_dangerous_128%2B

Rick Dangerous 128+ is an extended version of Rick Dangerous for the Amstrad 6128+ with the aim to include extra PLUS features thanks to the extended memory.

Here I have a quick play through, showing some of the menu features and most of level 1, I end with a quick comparison to the original Rick Dangerous release on the CPC - still a great game, shame they didn't put in the extra effort initially!

Download it here directly - http://www.cpcwiki.eu/imgs/8/86/Rick_final.zip

Play using the WinApe Amstrad emulator - http://www.winape.net

Features

- the famous digitised 'Whhhaaa' sample at 15Khz !

- Full levels from 16bits versions (special THX to bigorno)

- Cutscenes with graphics from the Amiga version

- Musics from the Atari ST version

- Redone tiles and sprites, additional artwork.

- And many, many surprises...

  • Hello hello. Running out of things to try, can someone help? I am playing a game using Winape and I can't figure out how to adjust the keys for input.

I just want to play Fruity Fraaaaaaaaaank. ^_^

Thanks in advance if anyone knows!

  • @missymidori Press the F12 key to bring up the options pop-up - click the "Input" tab there.

  • the key re-map works in all my other programs. I tried a virtual joystick (Vjoy), and tests in other programs and in Game Controller Settings show that my computer is accepting my virtual joystick. BUT Fruity Frank doesn't. So meanwhile, in Winape Input Settings, I can't figure out how to actually re-assign the keys I want to use. Clicking on the problem key doesn't allow me to overtype a preferred key... I don't know what the "Key 1, Key 2, Key 3" boxes do...they don't reassign....??? confused!

  • it would give me an option to over-type a key that I wanted that key to be reassigned as. For example, in Fruity Frank, the directions are Z = Left, X = Right, ; = Up, and . (dot) = Down. I'm finding it totally impossible to play this way, and I don't have a joystick, and no matter what I do, direction buttons don't work. I think the game will only accept those keys, OR directions from a joystick. I've even tried re-mapping the keys on my keyboard, but it doesn't work in this game, even though

  • @Xyphoe Hey, thanks a bunch for replying! Yeah, I can get into the options and everything. But I'm danged if I can actually figure out how to USE that input adjustment screen, with the image of the key layout and the boxes you type into. Hard to explain... well, here goes, and I totally understand if this makes no sense or if you don't feel like trying to explain something complicated to some random person on youtube. :)

Okay. So I thought if I clicked on a particular key that's bugging me,

  • This is an awesome remake!

I wish CPC+ had come sooner...

Did you know that if you select Extended gameplay you can actually jump on the enemy's heads ? !!!

  • @macdeath69 Ermm... have I progressed far enough to see this? Honestly I wouldn't know which are the 16-bit screens and which aren't (to be brutally honest, I'm not a huge fan of Rick Dangerous sorry!)

Axelino is making a long play video I believe.

  • Erh... you don't seem used to the 16bit extra level stull.

Let's try to make a full longplay ?

  • THX guy !

  • An amazing effort that not only shows what could easily have been, but also some of the capabilities of the Plus machines. Thanks!
