this solo is the reason miles stopped recording with red, red quoted it and then miles kicked him out of the studio after a fight because of it. That is why miles comps on piano on one of the tracks from milestones

If I didn't know the history and was just listening, I would say it was Rodney "doing" Miles.

You got it right quienro. the trumpet soloist is MILES. And the piano is Diz. I spoke with Miles about it in the late 1950s. If my memory is correct, he said Diz was on piano because the pianist hadn't shown up for the recording gig yet

i was just reading today the story about this recording in Ian Carr´s Miles Davis biography. Miles was 19 and was very happy that Charlie Parker called him for the recording session with Savoy. Dizzy Gillespie plays piano here because Parker wanted simpler accompaniement. Great song now that i´ve listened to it.

Miles gave Garland serious shit for that, he was totally pissed

Great, I didn't know this.

Would have preferred Diz, in this case.
Im sorry to break it to you but, that trumpet player isnt Mles Davis ; it is Red Rodney

@jazzmanmark The recording I have posted here comes from the following recording date: Charlie Parker's Rebopper's (Savoy Records) recorded in NYC Nov. 26, 1945. Miles Davis(trumpet) Charlie Parker(alto sax) Dizzy Gillespie(piano) Curly Russell(bass) Max Roach(drums).
Red Rodney did not record with Bird until 1949.
You can factcheck discography info here: jazzdiscoDOTorg/charlie-parker/discography or google other sites.
Do you have a story or top secret info to verify your claim?
