If you're a sprint freestyle swimmer, you want your kick to be FAST, COMPACT, and PRODUCTIVE. But what if you are a sprint freestyler with a fast kick, and you've been corralled into a 1650, or an open-water swim? Here's a drill that can teach you how to TURN OFF that kick when you need to. And if you are a distance swimmer or triathlete, this drill can hel you SAVE your legs until you need them.

  • Sometimes pain is a great teacher!!

  • You did not invent that drill. it's been around for ever.

single leg isolation is the best way to get a better feel for the water, as well for strength and conditioning.

do that drill both under water and on top of the water kicks for maximum improvement

  • Using the rubber band and tying the ankles was the only way how I corrected my crisscross kicking generated by incorrect torso position, a lot of pain but it was worth!

I believe 1650 is a distance in meters of a long distance swim, and open water i believe it is either in a lake or ocean where you swim.
