Well, I have a TDK tape from 22 years ago. Still plays fine!
-
I love VHS. DVDs are just a piece of dirt compared to VHS.

Even cheap tapes today don't have those problems.
Tape quality has come a long way, also most new VHS/DVD machines are 4 head.
-
@Mythdon thear was some rare 720p vhs tape too
-
I have a box of 10 unused BASF VHS tapes from 1983
-
i used to have that same VCR
-
I still buy to my VHS and Walk Man.

TDK generally makes a good tape, BUT their VHS cassettes used transparent leaders that had a tendency to break from the reels over time, requiring you to redo the fastening of the leaders to the reels. This was especially a problem with TDK VHS cassette tape from around the mid-late 1980s and older.

I sort of miss VHS tapes. I remember spending my youth in the 90's renting tapes from the video store, and always cursing the previous renter who never rewound the tapes! :-D

those days are gone...

@Mythdon lmao!!!
-
Used to buy 12-tape packs. Those were the days!

TDK cassettes are the best. You know, back in the days of Linear Audio before crappy buzzy hi-fi came along, there was a difference between the sound of each cassette and the TDK ones usually had the highest frequency response in mono. BASF was not very good in terms of mono sound.

I see this HS case in so many homes and video collections.

@Mythdon - I agree. VHS are more difficult to damage as where CD's and Blu-rays scratch and it can mess them up permanatley. I grew up with VHS tapes, so i prefer to use them more. I also get them for a quarter at garage sales, that being another reason.
I've gone as far as to use a thin peice of tape to fix ripped tapes. And people don't think about it much, but all the old tapes have the old movie trailers. DVD's and blu-ray have the more modern trailers.
