It's called the "Over/Under technique" and is used by all Audio/Visual professionals.

So he teaches us how to extend the life of the cable by coiling it properly then he just throws it on the floor.

@aaron544 I have no idea what you're talking about, so here is a bunny with a pancake on it's head. (Don't eat it.)

My brain has become so much slower since i became a purchaser of cables. I'm such a fucking ediot. Sometimes I eat garbage because i think it's good.

@LuckyJonn0 Coiling your cable the wrong way can cause little kinks in the wire and annoying loops which stresses the actual wires inside the cable causing it to rip. Throwing the cable 3 feet from the ground on carpet is nothing.

spend months practicing how to coil your cable properly and then just throw that shit on the floor until it breaks
-
So coiling a cable the wrong way will damage it, but throwing it across the floor has no implications whatsoever?

@patch6 Welcome to my world. I feel stupid every day.

@RevolutionGuitars I bet my brother $20 he couldn't do it with a 15' ethernet cable into our router and catch it on film (he's 11 so that's a shitload of candy for him). He actually managed to make it in once (the 2nd or 3rd throw) but it wasn't seated so it didn't count.
If he actually does it I'm going to lulz all over this bitch.

@Monso Oh man, being an ex IT guy, that just made my morning. Now off to paint the rest of my music school that I'm about to open. You've just made my day with that visual.
I had to watch the coiling part about 12 times before I understood, but this really works. No more tangles, and now I can throw my cables everywhere! Across the floor, drummer's crotch, McDonald's drive-thru window, and even across small lakes!
Thanks for the lesson, dudes.

@fortysixyou Who needs wifi?
Just throw your 120' ethernet cable right into someones router. It'll take some practice, but you'll be jacking into peoples networks from buildings across the street in no time.
