I really can't think how to word my reply without getting confusing so i'll just summarise.
Dehydrated Body : Retains 2-3 lbs of "waste" water, still requires constant hydrations (eg your 7 - 8 pints of water) to help flush said waste water out....will often end up urinating blood in extreme cases.
Hydrated body : No 2-3lbs of waste water so only water going into body is 7-8 pints it wont be temporary if you stick to eating right. The body only holds it if really feels it has to.

@screwmanx anything over a pound is catabolic. For a regular guy though, that shouldn't make much of a difference

@TheChesneyChrist That's just temporarily since you need the liquid. Especially if you live in very hot areas.

Lower ur salt intake guys the body will hold onto water to rehydrate itself so if ye have a low salt diet you can lose a 2-3lbs of water weight. Don't get disheartened!!
