A homebuilt project into an old radio box. The all-band radio schematic was found on a really cool site--Techlib.com. It has lots of nice circuits. Also to note, in my experience with building this and trying at times in the past, the radio receiver must be built on a breadboard because I could never get it to work when building it on a circuit board or similar.

  • Cool you like to fuck around with this stuff just like me! hah

    Do you have a schematic?

  • I have a schematic for the radio part somewhere, and the 386 amp schematic came from somewhere. I built that part a while back.

  • BTW: Whats the name of the song in the end of the video, I want to DL it.

  • "White Room" by Cream.

  • NSA is going to knocking on your door!

  • What is the NSA?

  • "the radio receiver must be built on a breadboard because I could never get it to work when building it on a circuit board or similar."

Did you ever think that maybe your just better at breadboarding than actual circuit construction? I'm almost the opposite. Almost anything (except very simple circuits) don't work on the breadboard for me but on perf board it works beautifully.

  • Listen to compact florescent lamps.. different models look exactly the same but sound different.

  • @CassetteMaster can you give the schematic?

  • dude you kick ass you make your own circuts

  • I love makin shit like that, tech stuff begs to be messed with..

  • this is kinda like one of those guys that got fired from NASA and builds things to get revenge

  • I have several devices that use the LM386 amp IC, one is that toy megaphone that I hacked and I have others. it is pretty powerful if you give it power. im surprised that such a small IC can drive that big speaker.

  • I actually have that IR detector card and yes IT SUCKS. ill just use a radio set to AM mode. works even better

  • Hold any IR remote up to the antenna wire and press any button. You should hear the IR code chirping and clicking. That's a little known method of testing them. Radio Shack wants you to but an Infra-red card and that costs a few dollars. Any AM radio tuned off station will work too.
