6 straight winning seasons: 1991-96; 3 Super Bowls in that time, 4 NFC title game appearances
After that, 1 playoff win between 1996 and 2009
1 winning season under Gailey, 1 .500 season
3 straight 5-11 seasons: 2000-2002
Even Tuna could only get 10 wins max out of the Cowboys; in part because of his outdated coaching philosophies but in part because of things like Jerry signing T.O against his wishes;controlling draft. 2007 was year to win SB..
@RocknRollClown5150 You are correct. Clint Murchison Jr knew his limitations and knew his core expertise was oil/gas engineering and running his wide array of enterprises and let football men like Tex Schramm and Coach Landry, along with Player Personnel man Gil Brandt run the actual football team. A model that produced 20 straight winning seasons, 250 regular season wins, 18 playoff victories, 5 NFC titles, 2 SB trophies and a record number of HOF members....
@RocknRollClown5150 Jimmy was de facto GM. Since then, Jerry has been GM and well we can judge for ourselves. Time will tell on Garrett as head coach but the last 2 games were deja vu of some of Switzer's decisions.
@RocknRollClown5150 True. If Jimmy remained, 3 Peat. Switzer had no clue on things like time management and discipline. Ex: Burning out timeouts near end of Browns game in 1994 and bumping official in 1994 NFC title game vs 49ers. However, the team Jimmy built declined after 1995; injuries, free agency and retirements; Irvin not same after bust and suspension. That goes to Jones' inability as GM. They need a Tex Schramm, Carmen Policy or George Young type to actualy draft, pick players...
@Rikki0 yes, this was from 1978-79, when Tom Landry was still the coach, Roger Staubach was the QB, but they lost a heartbreaker to the Steelers in the Super Bowl.
@Rikki0 This song is from around 1979 when Tom Landry was still the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

@sexyboynm Well I remember a GM and Head coach built the Dallas Cowboys without an owner being involved. Its only his first season give him time.

@Rikki0 ,
What about Jimmy? 2 SB wins back to back. If not for Jerry's insistence on wearing the GM hat, Johnson would have continued to be a Super Coach.
