@sinetheawhy you may have bought one that simply wasnt heavy enough. a good one weighs about 2 pounds... heavy heavy, and costs about $40 minimum.

Actually I disagree. I have spent loads of money buying expensive kitchen knives and cleavers in the past and now I refuse to use anything other than the Kiwi knives I buy in the Asian supermarket. They are as sharp as scalpels and every few weeks I sharpen them again with my Chef's Choice knife sharpener and they are fantastic! They are relatively thin, but I think this is what makes them so very sharp. Like cooking with giant razor blades.:)

@sinetheawhy The steel (if it is steel that they used) used to make the cleaver must be very cheap, buy a quality cleaver, it's money well spent

I just bought a cleaver today to try to make this recipe. The blade is messed up after I tried chopping through the bone. What did I do wrong?
