"Raining in My Heart" written by Felice and Boudleaux Bryant was recorded during the same session as "True Love Ways" on October 21, 1958, at the Pythian Temple Studio in New York City with Dick Jacobs' orchestra. It was released as a single on Coral Records on January 5, 1959 peaking at #88 on the Billboard charts as the B-side of "It Doesn't Matter Anymore". The recording was included on Buddy Holly's first greatest hits album, The Buddy Holly Story, released in March 1959.

  • I absolutly LOVE Buddy Holley and ALL of his songs! Thanks for sharing!!!

  • @ChoreographyQueens It is interesting how you spelled his name since his real name was Charles Hardin Holley.

  • Thanks for the nice writeup under the video! there's a documentary posted about this session, even shows the orchestration - 10 violins, 2 cellos, Al Caiola on guitar. Buddy pushed & said he wanted to record with strings & that became the new R&R standard! Great post, added to my 1959 playlist! My 700 playlists are a history of over a century of worldwide music, with lists for every year since 1900 & individual lists for the best artists & genres. The orchestration makes this pure magic for me!

  • @chkjns Unfortunately this has been vastly overshadowed by "True Love Ways."

  • Honestly and personally feel that this is one of Buddy Holly's best recordings- it has been my all-time and lasting favorite since and I wish to thank you for uploading it.

  • @felixbautista

You're welcome, Tito. I too have always loved it.

  • Beautiful song, gives me goosebumps every time. I was 19 when Buddy Holly died, and I was completely devastated when my girl came into my room and told me the news. Definitely the day the music died. Many thanks to catman916 for uploading my favourite song of all time. RIP Buddy, and may your music live on forever.
