These mutilations of humans are clearly related to the overall animal-mutilation phenomenon, in which the carcass of the mutilated animal (or human if you will) is left behind at the site of the perpetrated action. This is hardly a lie, or still moreover a myth. This is a real phenomenon unfortunately.
