Hey, just a heads up, the TSU-1000 827115 will not fit under the DCC Ready MTH SD70ACe/M2 hood. I know first hand. The only way to get it to fit is to cut out the narrow part of the long hood and rebuild a custom styrene piece. The decoder is too thick and MTH didnt leave enough room. You can just barely get a AT1000 Tsunami in it but its tight and you will lose the ACe/M2 sounds.

Awesome sound SD70 ACe`s

Damn those bad boy's sound good! How does the momentum work? I watched another vid where it had a much more prototypical throttle up before the train started to move. Saw another where the loco's were moving before the brake release and throttle up. I bought a SD 60M today Athearn Gen. with no sound. Waiting to find out which of the sound systems are better. So far for me it's a toss up between QSI and Tsunami.

how much did the MTH model cost?
How were you able to take the shell off? Do you really have to disassemble the trucks to remove it?

@graysonator123 No, as long as you have a small enough tool to open the tabs holding the shell on.

Quick question- How hard was it to put the Tsunami decoder in that?
I have an NS SD70M-2, and I'm toying with the idea of doing that.

Honestly, it is not very easy. I consider myself a "very advanced" DCC person, and this one took a while. The hardest part is removing the shell of all things. The second hardest part is figuring out the rat nest of wires. If you do install a DCC decoder, you will lose the coupler function, and are limited to the sound functions of your Tsunami. I'm glad I changed them out, I did on all three of my SD70ACes. While I loved the MTH sound effects, the Tsunami is vetter with other DCC engines.

Which Sd-70macs do you like better the kato ones or the athearns

The Kato ones are nice, the Athearn have a little better detail. The Kato's will stand up better than the Athearn... it is a toss up.
