Yeah...lol..but it wasn't THAT cold. I would say in the low 40's by the time we were finished (once the sun came out). But I concur, Des Moines is a great place for cross-cultural events...we have many here.

cool, irish belly dancers in kinda wicca garb, with bikers trying not to run over the wee people gathering candy, all suffering from frost bite, quite the typical cross cultural north american event ;)

Exposing yourselves? Children see more skin at the beach than with bellydancing. It is one of the most ancient dances on the planet, and if more children were exposed to the joys of this dance, less of them would feel it inappropriate to express themselves with dance.

I don't know the name of the tune, but it is by a group called Chulrua, from the CD "Barefoot on the Altar."
