Where did you sleep last night

My girl, my girl, dont lie to me
Tell me, where did you sleep last night?
In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun dont ever shine
I would shiver the whole night through

My girl, my girl, where will you go?
Im going where the cold wind blows
In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun dont ever shine
I would shiver the whole night through

Her husband, was a hard working man
Just about a mile from here
His head was found in a driving wheel
But his body never was found

My girl, my girl, dont lie to me
Tell me, where did you sleep last night?
In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun dont ever shine
I will shiver the whole night through
(sing it for me)

My girl, my girl, where will you go?
Im going where the cold wind blows
In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun dont ever shine
I would shiver the whole night through

My girl, my girl, dont lie to me
Tell me, where did you sleep last night?
In the pines, in the pines
Where the sun dont ever shine
I will shiver the whole night through

My girl, my girl, where will ya go?
Im going where the cold wind blows
In the pines, the pines
The sun, the shine
Ill shiver the whole night through

Best regards Roger ;-)

  • "In the Pines", also known as "Black Girl" and "Where Did You Sleep Last Night", is a traditional American folk song which dates back to at least the 1870s, and is believed to be Southern Appalachian in origin. The identity of the song's author is unknown, but it has been recorded by many artists in numerous genres.

  • @thestrugglewithin Thanx ;-)

  • Roger, Thank you for the suggestions:) I started on them and this was a good starter. Nice job at the end of showing how to strum. That is one of my biggest weakness.

  • So nice - good luck - you also have Detroit City, but that one is newer - Roger ;-)

  • thanks for the vid, finding it really hard to get a tab on this so i appreciate it.

  • Thanx - R

  • Thanx! The guitar in the background is my dobro - prfect 4 blues :-) I'm using standard tuning. Roger

  • Hey Roger, love the accent. Nice work on the song, but I'm wondering what your fingering is on the B? Are you tuning down a 1/2 step?

Also, what's up with that crazy guitar in the background, is it a clock with a thermometer and a barometer? That'd be awesome. Take care!

  • Hello, and thanx 4 your nice comment ! Roger :-)
