the japanese buddhist order, nipponzan myohoji, chanting na mu myo ho ren ge kyo, and putting one foot in front of another, walked from atlanta to lumpkin georgia to join a nonviolent demonstration drawing attention to the plight of immigrants. lumpkin hosts the stewart detention center operated by the private company, corrections corporation of america. in it recently a young man, roberto martinez medina, died without proper medical care. (http://www.workers.org/2007/us/immigrants-0426/)

the pilgrimage continued on to the school of the assassins/americas, and the annual vigil at the gates of fort benning in columbus georgia to close the notorious trainer of central and south american military who have been responsible for some of the most egregious infractions of international law.
