The Sony Wireless Media Player SMP-N200 was announced in September and is an upgrade to the Sony SMP-N100 that came out last year. The SMP-N200 is small and streamline, its got a USB port as well as component and HDM-out ports is The SMP-N200 also has DLNA capability which allows users to connect and control a network of devices and enjoy music and videos stored on other devices, including a PC or tablet. In addition to the remote control that is included, a free download of the Sony Media Remote app is available for iOS and Android devices, and gives users the option of using a smartphone to control their SMP-N200 Streaming Player.

When it comes to streaming media over your home wireless network, the SMP-N200 is flawless, it plays every file format we tried it with, Xvid, Divx, H.264, Mpeg, at 720p or 1080p. Plus you have a host of online video streaming that is easily accessible on the system like, Vudu, YouTube, Crackle, and more. The overall interface is easy to use, with a very similar layout as the PS3. It does have a web Browser which I most say is really not worth the time, also navigating the browser can be a pain with the remote or smart phone.

In all the SMP-N200 is an excellent media player and does a fantastic job at streaming media content over Wi-Fi, it is flawless again i can't stress how flawless it is and Sony has done an excellent job here with the Sony Media Player SMP-N200

  • My sony bravia tv has already all these features.

  • so forgive my retardation, i hook it up to my TV in the living room and i have all the access to my external hard drives (2) a 2 TB and a 1 TB that i would have if i was sitting at my PC????? And my kids can be playing on the PC while my wife and I watch a flick in the living room??

  • The questions I have are: 1) Can this play internet radio beside Pandora type formats? i.e a radio station in another city or country? 2) Watching Youtube vids are you able to search via this device on Youtube if you are at the homepage or within your account?

  • @AmsterdamPlayah as in how do i stream my media content to it? but nvm i found out how. i just downloaded "ps3 media server" works like a charm, since it has the same coding as the ps3. also works on the new xbox 360 slim. just saying.
