Because AMD is in the next generation game consoles games will be optimized for AMDs Graphics Core Next GPU architecture so most likely PC games are going to run better on AMD.

I am not a fan of dual-GPUs unless you have no room for SLI / CF.

Right now you can get 2x Sapphire Dual-X 1ghz 7970s for $800 on Newegg. There are 1100mhz Gigabyte Windforce 3x 7970 for $450 on Newegg. 2 of those are faster and still cheaper than HD7990 / Devil 13 7990.

On the NV side, you can get GTX670 SLI for under $800, or spend more for GTX670 4GB SLI. To me this is why neither the 690 nor the 7990 make much sense.

At this point HD7970 is 10 months old. I'd wait for 8970 now.

Recall when HD7970 Ghz edition came out June 21, 2012? About 1 month after it was going for $450-470 US. Forward 12 months and cards like MSI TwinFrozr 7970 Ghz are selling for $410 US. In 12 months, the prices barely dropped. Same applies for HD7950/GTX670/680 and GTX690. I wouldn't buy any of these cards at this point. At least I'd wait for GTX700 to drop for possible price drops from both companies. I got my 7970s more than 12 months ago. Waiting for 20nm at this point and would advise others

7970's are way lower priced than they were at their launce. Seen the specs of the 8970 i would still go for the 7970 just for the price.

The point is by DEFAULT any console games will be designed for and run on GCN tech.

What games actually use Phisx? AMD releases their product first so then Nvidia goes oh ill just make it x better and win. AMD has worse drives than Nvida and if they could fix that they would dominate Nvidia in price per performance so much. It's a fact most of AMD cards have more raw potential than Nvidia's comparable cards AMD just sucks at using it. Proof you ask? Bitcoin miners use AMD cards because they mine better aka faster.

No GeForce is better. They have PhisX which gives the game a little more realism over AMD. And did you notice how GeForce just dominates AMD each time they come up with a new graphic card? Like each time AMD brings out a new graphic card, 3 months after GeForce does that. GeForce is a bigger company, and they will keep isolating AMD from anything new they create. Like AMD ONCE had the worlds power fullest graphic card, than 3 months after it's not GeForce, with the new GTX Titan.
