A lifetime of holidays in Sutherland, visting Balnakeil and Durness since I was a baby. So many memories of hot and sunny days at the Durness Games, last Friday in July. However, when I finally get the chance to fly around the area in a helicopter - it's raining and overcast... Ah well, it still makes for an interesting clip when you know folks houses, have fished various lochs and walked along all the beaches. So, for my friends in the North (and those who have visited this very special place) - I hope you enjoy my video. I've had a dream since childhood to fly along the coast and over the mountains in a fighter jet but, for now, I guess this helicopter trip will need to do me. Oh to be a millionaire and buy a Harrier Jumpjet or even a helicopter or micro-light, I SO love flying! :-)

  • Fascinating to see this special place from the air, after seeing it so many times by road and footpath. Its remoteness scares me a little but the atmosphere is special and always draws me back. Certainly I have some great memories of very variable weather, but HOT and sunny days? That's not an experience I've had in Durness.

  • went golfing there this spring, a special place.

  • Highlight of my annual Highland trip. A special place to wake up in.
