Off base vs Base Housing

I might not make sense in a few parts..only going off an hour n a half of sleep!! Lol. But just my opinion on housing options youll have when you get married! (:

we have the same couch too and the storage ottomans! Our dogs destroyed it but...we're moving into base housing on Camp P too! Can't wait

@meeesh110987 Don't know where we are moving yet..We get our official orders next week (we found out it's def Camp Pend in advance) This is our first on base move so I don't even know where to start..We were stationed at Miramar before this overseas nightmare but lived off base! I'm wondering where they will put us..We don't have kids yet but plan on getting prego as soon as we get settled in..He's a Sgt..any idea what type of house they will stick us in?

@mrandmrscolbert theyll probably try to talk you into south mesa II. but dont do it! haha. theyre pretty small and its apartment style ones so their little haha. im in santa margarita. its for cpls and sgts. and i love em! theyre pretty big compared to alot of the other housing.

So are u guys aloud to leave base as u please? Im confused on the whole living on base thing how much freedom do u have? And i take it u dont have to live on base? Im 17 and im joinin the marines i want to get stationed in cali cuz im from LA and want to stay close to my family

@mrandmrscolbert haha yeah, we had a pitbull mix and a lab mix and they tried putting us in one, but we requested different housing. they dont take it into consideration at all though with kids. you have to have proof that your prego to get into bigger housing, but margarita has two bedrooms, so if you guys have one there is def enough room! haha

@mrandmrscolbert Makes sense..our friend that had the fireplace had 2 kids...We have dogs though, will they really try and put ppl with big dogs in an apartment style house? Also, since we are planning on getting prego right away do they take that into consideration when assigning a house?
