Angel Mummy actually kind of makes sense, angels were originally described as completely inhuman. the whole "Winged Humanoid" thing is actually a relatively recent idea.

think of it this way: remember the Angels in NGE? while their designs are original, they are close in concept to what angels were described as.

how did you get the cross ?

The cross is only in the Japanese and European versions of the game; you need to play those to use it.
