  • John I'v watched just about everyone of your videos I can find on here, my father has been a diesel mechanic for 25 years and I have an mr2 and love working on my car as well. You are awesome man, every video I'v seen have been very interesting and informative. I wish I worked for you. Have you ever had to do any work with the toyota 4age engine?

  • @RANCIDROBO - Thanks for the kind words, they are much appreciated. Yes, I have another 4age engine in the shop right now.

  • didnt used any oil durring drilling or tapping to prevent heat damage? =/

  • The case is magneisum and I prefer not to use anything on low-speed drilling. If this was a high speed machining operation, I would use something that would be compatible w/mag.

  • I have my case split in two right now at a shop.. how much would a machine shop do this for?

  • Runs about $85 in my shop.

  • @fiatnutz You should do a video of the work on the 4A if you get the chance. One of my favorite engines. thanks for the reply too

  • You are correct in the fact that in this operation it is fine. Now look at it from someone who knows better and thinking about useing him for work. If you cut corners here ware else do you cut corners that might really matter. How you present yourself is everything. I don't doubt he knows what he is doing and has done it for a long time.

  • So I suppose you would select a collet chuck for the job ? I like that these are informative real world presentations . How often are we presented " ideal " conditions as taught in a classroom. You don't Need watchmakers tolerences for this particular work . I dont recall hearing the end mill skip or chatter . What would I know , Only managed a group of 100 machinists mostly from the Philippines in Jeddah Saudi Arabia . We were a collaborative group. Good jobbing machinists are hard to find .

  • @jeffrey19621 Well at 44 and my father owning a shop i have grown up in a machine shop. You never put a endmill in a drill chuck " to loose" and sloppy, let alone hard on a chuck. I don't dout you know what your doing but this is very wrong.

  • @rotax7804 You have never worked in a machine shop . Stick to CNC kid ....

  • @fiatnutz what a fantastic service you provide... i hope all the racers out there are watching...? thanks....
