Maurice Carney on the western corporate backing of Joseph Kabila and the corporate pillaging of the Congolese people's resources.

The IMF/World Bank play a key role in softening up local governments and pave the way for corporate takeovers of African countries.

I like the term 'odious contracts', which fit for instance Zambia's 'development agreements' to a t. They were done in secret, and gave western corporations decades long 'tax holidays', which ensure that these corporations pay no taxes in Zambia. For instance in 2004, mining companies exported $4 billion in copper, cobalt and gemstones. They made $2.4 billion in profits, and paid exactly $6 million in taxes to the government.

  • no wonder the western media especially americans cable chanels focus on sudan and not the congo, they always try to demnis islam in the process and say nothing of their dirty whiteman finger prints in the DRC, white christians nations have for centuries exploieted the DRC, more people died in congo from 1999-2003 than in the whole twenty years of conflict in sudan.
