Witnesses offer Awake! magazine as a help to parents for protecting children from Internet dangers
Cover of Awake! magazine

NEW YORK—With the dramatic increase in the use of the Internet by youths, many parents may feel as though their children have invited a group of strangers to stay in their home, with no departure date in sight. Jehovahs Witnesses are distributing the October 2008 issue of their monthly journal, Awake!, which contains valuable information highlighting why parents should be concerned with their childrens online activities and what parents can do to balance caution and beneficial use of the Internet by their children.

The increasing popularity of Internet use among the young, coupled with the onslaught of technologies that facilitate Internet access, can overwhelm conscientious parents. The magazines series of articles, Your Child and the Internet, presents interesting Bible principles that parents can apply to increase Internet safety in the home. The series also offers a helpful guide to some of the online activities that many youths are attracted to. The article What Parents Can Do contains practical suggestions that can empower parents as they strive to teach their children how to use the Internet responsibly.

Jehovahs Witnesses publish Awake! as part of their worldwide volunteer work for the enlightenment of the entire family. Awake! enjoys a global readership that numbers well into the millions and is made available by Jehovahs Witnesses without charge to all who wish to read it.
