Hilo Intermediate School - Cajun Folk Songs

PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!

I want to make this clear. Our Trumpets didn't play well, because our conductor told them to take it down an octave. Why? Because at this concert, we had another song which had high notes right after this song so he told them to take it down an octave to save their chops. So quit it with these comments about us not playing well because we also played this at our Band Fest and placed SECOND. Got it?

The 2006-2007 Hilo Intermediate 8th Grade Band at our spring concert playing Cajun Folk Songs by Frank Ticheli.

I'm a trumpet player and I've played this piece. There is nothing all that hard in this. They did do the natural trumpet thing in the first movement and assumed they were always playing the most important part. They should have blended with the alto sax soloist. (again, been there) And we had two different guys playing those muted trumpet solos in the second movement. The second guy totally botched it in contest. Our chair placement was (no seniors) junior, junior, freshman (me), junior.

yea i think the trumpets took over the saxophone part loved the solo it was almost as good as me.

dis sucked it was horifficly terrible we would own u
