I dont mean to step on any toes here people, but this whole national aids awareness day shit is getting on my nerves!!! Dont get me wrong I understand that AIDS is contracted in several ways both preventable and non preventable. I also understand that there is a worldwide AIDS epidemic. However, most of you that know me personally also know that I have one of the most severe types of psoriasis. People with aids will argue that their disease is so terrible that it hinders them from getting a job, it affects them sociallypeople avoid them because they have a disease that is highly contagious and can kill others. I will argue that my condition only differs in the fact that it is not contagious!

Psoriasis is a long-term (chronic) skin problem that causes skin cells to grow too quickly, resulting in thick, white, silvery, or red patches of skin. Normally, skin cells grow gradually and flake off about every 4 weeks. New skin cells grow to replace the outer layers of the skin as they shed. But in psoriasis, new skin cells move rapidly to the surface of the skin in days rather than weeks. They build up and form thick patches called plaques

The patches range in size from small to large. They most often appear on the knees, elbows, scalp, hands, feet, or lower back. Psoriasis is most common in adults, but children and teens can get it too.

Having psoriasis can be embarrassing, and many people, especially teens, avoid swimming and other situations where patches can show. But there are many types of treatment that can help keep psoriasis under control.

People also avoid me because of these large patches of scaly like skin on my arms, ears, and legs. (these are the only visible patches) I am stared, pointed to, and laughed at by adults as well as children.

My point is that someone should raise awareness for this incurable disease as well! I feel like my condition is just over looked.u never hear anything about finding a cure for psorasis. Why cant someone atleast educate the public on the details of this condition. I dont mean to rant and rave or sound like a self righteous bitchI just felt like getting this off my chest.

  • Will this kill yu eventually?

  • yes it can if not taking care of While all chronic health conditions are difficult to live with, the skin condition known as psoriasis not only has a negative effect on a persons well-being, but it can also be fatal.

  • Respond to this video... Well put together, but you know the truth, you may just have to start the Awareness campaign, I dont see anyone doing it better, its only those that wears the shoe that knows where it pinches. believe me its ur call, Psoriasis is not Cancer, AIDS, Malaria, etc (those are were the huge grants goes and its only those conditions and their likes that u see pple not living with condition getting interested. I am working on Vitiligo Cause now because I have it

  • @arian513 It really baffles me to hear all this its not life threatening and all....What is Social well being? Seen WHO definition of health? A man who is being avoided, stigmatised upon, segregated upon, cant the job of his/her dreams, cant live a normal life, difficult to find love even......Skin conditions, Appearance challenged and disfigurement is one area that has been neglected and its time to do something about it.....

  • @matrahat Sure it does not kill anyone? I have asked dis question over and over and asking it here again, what is a man who is emotionally and psychologically dead amount to? Do u know that pple with severe skin conditions are stigmatised more than anyother condition at the meeting? Till you say that you are HIV Positive, that's when your employer knows or people around you, once you have any appearance challenge people avoid you like plague........Do u know it means to live in misery and agony?

  • Girl I will be praying for u and that disease will leave in Jesus name!!! If he created you he knows you from the inside out!!! Have faith and no doubt at all and that disease will flee in Jesus mighty name!!!!

  • im sure if any of those people, in a certain case sure as hell wouldnt like to be lauged at, sure its a bit odd looking but its not a laughing matter or something to make fun of.

  • THATS TERRIBLE... BUT U SHOULDNT BE SICK OF WORLD AIDS DAY,,.. ITS NOT ABOUT WHAT SYMPTOM IS WORST OR NEEDS MORE ATTENTION,.. THE TRUTH IS AIDS IS SUMTHIN THAT SHOULD BE MADE INTO THE PUBLIC SIMPLY CUZ UNLIKE UR CONDITION,.. IT CAN BE PREVENTED. BUT I WISH U LUCK,.

  • Psoriasis doesn't kill anyone but makes you suffer with itches and red patches , some ppl have it for over 60 years and they are still alive. im trying everything i can to see what helps. doctors say diet does not help but it does i tried fore few days strong and it was trying to fade away but its so hard to almost not eat anything...:(

  • I know of at least one type of psoriasis that can kill, I am not sure if the one she has will. I think the once that kills covers near all of your body and is red. I could be wrong.

I wish people did know more about psoriasis so more people wouldn't freak when they see someone with it. My psoriasis has never been as bad as yours, I hope you find a way to control it.

    God Bless
