Join us as we fly via Google Earth over the Columbia Highlands of northeastern Washington, connecting the Cascades to the Rockies. The tour takes us from the North Cascades and Okanogan Highlands eastward to the Kettle River Range, the mighty Columbia River, and the Selkirk Mountains, western outpost of the Rockies. The Columbia Highlands is an unspoiled outback for adventure and one of the best places in the Pacific Northwest to see wildlife, from birds to bighorns to bears. Today, a balanced plan, the Columbia Highlands Initiative, proposes wilderness protection; forest restoration; quality long-term forest management; improvements to recreation infrastructure; and collaborative work to keep private ranches operational and available as wildlife habitat. • Make all wilderness areas private and the incentive for more wilderness areas will increase. Create a private desire for wilderness areas through the free market. People can live with the animals and become part of the environment instead of seperate from it. We need to learn to live with the environment instead of seperate from it. Humans are not the problem attitude towards nature is the problem. We can live in harmony with nature. We must learn.

  • I was lucky enough to have Dick Slagel introduce himself to me at the Ferry County Co-Op recently!
