its to allow trains to turn around (you should put one on the other side as well)

Go to the station build which brings up a window then press "R"

or the remove button (the little digger)

I suggest you use the 'Ctrl' key when building stations instead of doing that.

thats cool, but maybe you should extent the entrance and exit lines so there could be a train waiting for entring and exiting the station without blocking the mainline, or at least on the exitline, if you have trains waiting on entring you might as well add a line to the station itself.

This is now outdated. Try holding Ctrl when building stations to connect to others close by.

It could be made a lot easier - by simply using ctrl-click while placing the station tiles, which lets you choose from a list which station to add the new tiles to.

whats the point of this? if a stations conjested then add more platforms (EG the ones you removed) and set the trains you don't want too stop their as "non stop". if two platforms are full here then NO train can strop, soo a train will wait out side blocking the whole thing. how ever will the extra platforms that train could stop and the flow would contiune.
