  • I am a truck driver and I do light lifting..nothing over 40 lbs. I was wondering how painful the proceedure was, what was the cost, and how long do you think it will take for me to be back at work? Did they knock you completely out or were you given a spinal? I know I'm asking a lot questions but I would like to get the complete run down before I have this done. Mine is slightly larger and I am sure I will need the mesh. Thanks!

  • @bunkman64 mine didnt need the mesh. The surgeon said that since I caught it early, all he had tto do was open me up and put one permanent stitch in there, but if I wait, it wont just be fat coming out the tear, it will be bowell, and then it can get convoluted and he would have to remove a section of bowel, and I didnt want that. If mine had been any worse than it was, he would have to have used the mesh. It wasnt that painful, i used percosets, they will put you under, 6 weeks off for me.

  • No mesh was used on mine, just a single permanent stich, as I caught it early. Dr. said if I had waited, it would have been repaired with the mesh. With mesh there is a chance of infection, so they give you anti-biotics. Most people are ok, Dr told me that with the mesh you will always be able to sort of feel it, but it really shouldnt cause you pain or that much discomfort. Better that than letting it go and then having to have a section of twisted bowel removed later. Good luck

  • @freakysideshow Well it's been 2 weeks now since surgery and everything went fine. Mine was the same as yours, no mesh needed. The doc described it as being very small and that a small amount of fat had come though the break. Other than a bad case of trapped gas, my post-op was painless. I was up and walking the 2nd day and was out at grocery store with my wife by day three. Thanks for posting your videos because they helped prepare me for something that I was very nervous about.

  • Was mesh used with your procedure? I'm scheduled for surgery in 3 days and was just a little concerned about the mesh and the pain it's causing others months to years later.
