First test of wood burning gas tubine with variable load and automatic throttle control system. Ball valve on the compressor discharge of the second turbo allows load regulation. More at nye.ca

  • i n terms of wood burned per HP is this more efficient than wood gas in a gas engine?how doe it stack up in lbs of wood per HP per hour?

  • We don't have any hard numbers yet, this machine is for proof of concept only. I can tell you the effeciency is very poor due to the high exhaust gas temperature.

  • No. Any heat that is lost to the enviroment is power you could be generating instead.

  • combustor wall?Is it necessary to do so here and wouldnt that make it ineffcient?Thanks.

  • A massive amount of heat is dumped at the combustor wall and a bunch more of it is lost past the second turbine. And you still need something to start the whole process off. WG in an ICE would be a higher eff. This is a Nice setup tho, I built something similar a few years ago.
