DO NOT WATCH NOR DRINK UNTIL 21

Welcome to the wonderful, wayward world of Absinthe! I will explain a short history about Absinthe and then show you how to partake in it. I am using the Swiss Absinthe technique with the sugar cube and ice water.

  • first time I ever got drunk was with Absinthe. You my dear are amazing to love it, since I was like "Holy shit!" xD

  • @videogamenostalgia lolololol as is with canada sir, LOL xD yessss!!!

  • ..also sugar cubes were invented in the Czech Republic, which was at that time a part of the Austro Hungarian Empire..its through this block of compacted sugar that absinth became far more pleasurable to drink, and by far more elegant than the alternative of having to dump a teaspoon of sugar straight into the glass. The sugar cube became very popular and was exported throughout Europe, though not only for absinth reasons people found it to be practical and less messy.

  • I only want to mention this for tourist reasons, for those travelling to Europe, you dont need to go only to Spain or France to purchase absinth. Im Czech so i know, besides being a beer nation we drink absinth when we visit friends or as a digestive after dinner, there is no better digestive trust me :) Anyway really enjoyed your video keep it up. From one Goth to another.

  • Absinth originated in Switzerland, that is where it was invented. Today it is legal in only a few European countries where it is manufactured , but one important country you forgot to mention is the Czech Republic where you will find orginal absinth everywhere, absinth liquor stores, absinth glass stores the city has absinth on every corner. You must understand that it came to the height of its fame during the Art Nouveau era, and many Czech artists were drinking it e.g Alfons Mucha.

  • until you're 21? damn. Here in the UK you can start as soon as you're 18...

  • Absinthe shall be my first drink on my 21st birthday :D

  • I liked the part when state people who drink it.

Should I drink absinthe because "everybody does it"?

  • I live in the UK and I'm 19 but I'm going to be 20 next month, so fortunately I'm legally allowed to drink alcohol because the minimum drinking age here is 18. I really like your talk on the history of absinthe and I'm curious to try it at some point, I would love to try Mansinthe if I can find it in the future.

  • responding to one of the comments, thujone is IN wormwood its not added seperatly. As to you cupcake as a fellow goth and a big fan of absinthe i did enjoy this video and so did my wife.Very glad you like to moulin rouge :) i live in england so it is alot easier to get hold of fine absinthes made to the oringinal reciepes. One thing i will say to you is take more time when pouring your water to ensure that the suger melts before you stir.Other than that enjoy your absinthe.
