I received what's apparently and older and problematic Foxconn socket mounted to an Asus P7P55D-E Pro. The board came from Newegg last week. Here's more info on the subject: http://www.anandtech.com/show/2859

The creaking and grinding the socket makes doesn't help. :/

  • It... Um... It looks fine. When you install the CPU, since motherboards aren't that thick or anything, they are bound to bend a bit. I can't really see anything wrong here.

  • I got the same socket on my p7p55d-e, I am now using the board and is stable, however to get stable I had to set ram timing to 2T and increase MCH voltage, apparently when 2T is needed means a bad ram controller which is now on cpu and so I could have poor pin contact. I had the same issue as you the unequal socket pressure when closed. Is sad that reviewers got a different socket to what is been sold to customers.
