Moles can be a real problem in gardens and I can guarantee at this time of the year that several people will ask me how to get rid of them. Unfortunately, there is no easy answer and the best way is to try several methods until you find one that works. Even then if you manage to catch or deter a mole it's not always the end of the problem. For much of the year moles are solitary have their own territory. If you catch the little fellow, his neighbour will take advantage of the tunnel system and move in.
I'm lucky in the fact that I don't get moles on the heavy clay part of my garden, but where the soil is lighter and sandy-loam, there are usually a few mole hills. Where the moles are a real nuisance, it might be worth getting in mole catcher. They are licensed to used products that home-gardeners can get which poison the moles in their deep tunnels. However, if you want to have a go at controlling them yourself, here are a few suggestions...

  • Sorry to say, but that's bullshit, tried it more then once without succes ...

  • If you really want to get rid of moles you can just bury empty wine bottles up to their necks and the humming sound from the wind (which is low enough so that it wont bother you or neighbors) will disturb them underground so they move out.

    you dont need to kill them for just trying to survive.

  • I am a professional mole catcher, I am not quite sure where these facts come from? The only way to catch moles is by using traps. Forget everything else from sonic devices to gasing, There's an old saying in the mole catching business, 'A TRAP IN THE RIGHT PLACE DOES ITS JOB'

  • What I found that works best is spray carburator cleaner. I spray a little in their holes, and every four or five feet in their runs. I also use the large pinwheels aferwards and it seems to keep them away.

  • @bella8136 Raspberry cheesecake........they hate that!!!

  • Get a good old stationary engine and plug the exhaust into the moles tunnel and smoke them out. And to all the eco extremist tree huggers, moles are not the cute and cuddly things you imagine and do take time to remember next time you buy any fresh produce at the shop that it was made possible by fighting nature back. If you think nature is all cute fluffy and lovable, go to the arctic without any clothes and hug an iceberg and see what happens.

  • Which smells do moles dislike?

  • @Chachewie So you bury the boddle up right or upside down?

  • we use this trap that looks sorta like a guillotine, put it over his tunnel and when he goes through multiple spikes impale him. very satisfying =]

  • @jackapples3 well you do need batteries...

    (;

  • that doesnt look like a torpedo, looks like a vibrator to me...

  • Im not sure that I have a mole problem but the holes in my garden are very small and the creature is actually eating the root system of my rose bushes. When I pulled the dead bushes out the entire root ball was gone. I dont know what to do and what kind of animal is this since it is said that moles dont eat roots.
