This is one of my all time favorite jazz classics. The combination of these two great musical minds results in an explosive piece filled with talent, and a passion for music. Borrowed from "First Time! The Count Meets the Duke!" I own no audio or pictures found in this video. The music is owned by Columbia music.

The hardest swinging big band of all-time (Basie) and the most versatile big band of all-time (Ellington). That's certainly not to say that Duke's band didn't swing like hell. Duke made the fucking Nutcracker swing for god sake! :)

I have this CD and I love it...I love that they included the "takes" of this song it gives you a feel of being there live.

The Battle Royal , I have it on a pre recorded tape cassette , A great sound the 2 bands to-gether.

this is such a coincidence you have the only video on youtube with this song and I saw it yesterday, just when you uploaded (i didn't know until now). this is one of my favorites, too. I was wondering... do you know where there could be scores and charts of this song, I would like to play it with my big band.

I'v looked too, and havnt been too successful... One place i havn't checked is the "Essentially Ellington" collection, they might have it. Good luck
