I agree with most of what he's saying except that he wants to reinstate the assault weapons ban. The fact is that "assault weapons" are hardly different from hunting rifles (and certainly no more dangerous), they just look scarier. On top of that, they're very rarely used in crime.
Tracing illegal guns, performing background checks... that's all fine. But as a responsible gun owner I can't support the assault weapons ban.

Obama is so right on about guns and the NRA. They act like any restriction is equivalent to vetoing the 2nd amendment. We do need laws preventing the distribution of certain types of guns to certain types of people.
