Judgment Day: Intelligent Design on Trial captures the turmoil that tore apart the community of Dover, Pennsylvania in a landmark battle over the teaching of evolution in public schools. In 2004, the Dover school board ordered science teachers to read a statement to high school biology students about an alternative to Darwin s theory of evolution called intelligent design the idea that life is too complex to have evolved naturally and so must have been designed by an intelligent agent. The teachers refused to comply, and both parents and teachers filed a lawsuit in federal court accusing the school board of violating the constitutional separation of church and state.

Now, NOVA explores the arguments by lawyers and expert witnesses in riveting detail and provides an eye-opening crash course on questions such as What is evolution? and Is intelligent design a scientifically valid alternative? Featuring trial reenactments based on court transcripts and interviews with key participants and expert scientists, this gripping program presents the celebrated case of Kitzmiller v. Dover School District.

  • I hate it when people say "Let the kids figure it out for themselves." If kids could figure it out for themselves, we wouldn't have schools. The people who figure it out for themselves are the researchers who provide the information with which students are taught.

  • Always tell the truth so you don't have to remember the lie..

  • "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour"

They managed to break the 9th commandment, but luckily not the 1th amendment.

  • If you drive a wedge into a solidly built statue like the evolutionary theory, you better the hell not fill the divide with nonsensical crap and expect people to not know the different between rock-hard evidence and stale, crumbling bullshit.

  • The bottom line is that for something to be scientific there must be a way to design a test to try to prove it false. Supernatural explanations can therefore NEVER be considered scientific. I am ashamed that Behe teaches at my Alma Mater (Lehigh). Fortunately I graduated before he got there, but he should be fired for incompetence.

  • Hey school board! Thou shalt not lie! Did that ever cross your minds?

  • They are the ones with an agenda

  • So they had a conspiracy all along...

  • 8:20 "Never in a *million* years..."

Wow, that's saying something from a guy who only believes the earth is 6000 years old....

  • He said he needed $1100 for the books but the cheque was for $850... pocketing some extra cash was he?!

  • Creationists will burn in hell for bearing false witness and being blatantly dishonest

  • If this was made into a movie i nominate Rod Steiger to play Bill Buckingham he will capture the naive bigotry perfectly
