this is called chord melody, for those who wanted to play this, should master at least 1 whole family chord, in any key that u like. after that, u must know where is the bass, of the key/chord. For example, the first chord of the song played by him is C chord, then the bass of the chord is C, which is 3rd fret of 5nd string. So, he play with C + the melody, together with the C chord's notes, which is C E G, in a ascending order from top string to bottom string, etc. In short, master chord scale.
