The Athletic Club, Athletic de Bilbao commonly called, is a Spanish football club from the town of Bilbao in Biscay. Founded in 1898 and played in the Primera Division in Spain. It, along with F. C. Barcelona and Real Madrid, one of three clubs who have disputed all seasons in the First Division.

The Athletic Club is the third in the Spanish league with more titles, taking in his 8 league championships, 23 Cup championships and a Super Cup and a runner-Spain of the UEFA Cup. In the historical classification of the LFP took 3rd place behind Real Madrid and F. C. Barcelona. The club also has a women's team, which has won 4 championships in the Spanish Superliga.

His San Mames stadium is also known as "The Cathedral". Opened in 1913, is one of the oldest in Spain. The club has embarked on plans to build a new stadium, San Mames Barria (Nuevo San Mames), which are erect at the site of the former Exhibition of Bilbao, near the current stadium. The date of start of construction has not yet been confirmed [2].

The club is famous for its Biscayan sports policy therefore plays only football players born or educated in the Basque Country and the so-called Basque provinces (see below. Philosophy Club), true to its motto, "With quarry and hobby no need to import. "[3] On the other hand, is one of only four professional clubs in Spain, with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Osasuna, which is not a sports corporation, so that ownership of the club lies with their partners.

El Real Madrid, F. C. Barcelona and Real Sociedad are historical rivals Athletic. With the first two, the rojiblancos have disputed many leagues and cups, now matches between these teams are considered a classic of the Spanish League. [4] The Royal Society is a special rivalry, vying among themselves when they play the classic Basque derby. [5] There is also a certain rivalry with other teams or as Osasuna Racing de Santander, among others.

Totalmente arrepentido y culpable me rindo a todo. No hay equipo como el Athletic. Me duele no verle nunca ganador pero ya me da igual. A veces te enfadas en la vida con quien mas quieres. Tambien con las cosas que mas quieres. Es bueno abrir los ojos uno solo, no que te los abra nadie y siempre terminas abriendolos. Es ley de vida que antes de nacer abras los ojos.
