  • This is a red herring. Whether a religion is useful or not depends on "useful for what"? Princes and popes have certainly found it useful for controlling people and taking their money.

But how does that have any bearing upon whether or not it's true? People are given medical placebos all the time, and those placebos can even have a positive effect.

    Religion is a placebo.

  • What Dinesh D'Souza says about capitalism in this section is a reiteration of what he said in his 2001 FreedomFest debate against David Kelley about the moral basis of capitalism.

  • If christianity can't be defended, why insisting in defending it? Dinesh is very nostalgic obviously. He is not capable of leting go the idea of original sin, etc. Take this idea of sin and everything crumbles, the whole christian ideal will not survive. I know, is hard to let it go.We don't need a god to have an apreciation of trascendence and the nouminous, or to explain goodness. With all the reasoning that Dinesh is doing I'm surprised that he needs a god to defend.

    Ivan.
