If you go to India there is a faint chance that you might bump into a sambrani man. Sambrani is a kind of incense that has a fragrant smell and is used in religious places, and at homes either as a fragrant freshner or to dry your hair (this is an old custom that many people follow now).

I chanced upon this sambrani man in an old neighborhood of Bangalore and had him demonstrate how it works. I had Bollywood movies in my mind since I had just recorded a long audio interview with Mr. V.K. Murthy, cinematographer to Guru Dutt, the legendary filmmaker. Mr. Murthy mentioned that he used "sambrani" extensively in his films and in fact is in fact his signature of sorts.

This video clip is in English and Hindi.
