@pandurate alot of his tricks werent false however. straightjacket escapes often required dislocation of the arms to wriggle free

@spikgame Escapes (yes, even Houdini's escapes) did often involve trickery, though, so there is an element of illusion to it. He used hidden keys for handcuffs, knives to cut laces from straightjackets, trick straightjackets (if he were to supply his own), and many other deceptions. Ignorance indeed.
