The only markings these Chinooks have on them, is a small white circle(1' dia.)with 3 or 4 numbers in the circle? They fly over Wadsworth and the grade schools about 200' off the tree tops, get people running outside to see what the noise is all about, circle the town, do "touch-n-goes" at the Wadsworth, Ohio Muni.Airport, then head to a neighboring town. And they operate in this fashion all the time here! I don't know where they come from? Ravenna Arsenal,Canton,Parma,Wooster or Youngstown Guard Units?

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • If you see a unmarked black chinook, flying low, get your Barret .50 and shoot him.

They are not Navy, Army, USAF, or someting, does not officially exist.

  • Thats a national guard heli . Im from Wadsworth.

  • It's a conspiracy, man. It's proof that there's a helicopter in the air. Do you think they fly over one weekend a month and two weeks a year? Tell you what... draw a line on a map from Akron-Canton airport to Camp Perry. Imagine that Wadsworth on a flight path. This unit is going to Afghanistan later this year; let's hope they ALL come back. I think the pilot has other things on his mind than waving a you.

  • Why you see them over Wadsworth is because the pilot of 103 lives there and often circles his home so his four kids can see Dad and wave. This is the National Guard and there base is at the Akron/Canton airport. They have been armed and are scheduled to go to Afganastan later this year. A few years ago he landed the Chinook at a Wadsworth ball field, for the grade school kids to tour on recess. P.S. Note, a pilot landing one of these is way too busy to wave to spectators. Don't be offended.

  • @TheSovietSteel Also, this need not be an Ohio guard unit, as many national guard units from around the country travel to other states to perform maneuvers, just as the 107th out of Akron used to travel to Camp Grayling in Michigan. The 103rd Airflift out of Connecticut operates Chinooks.

  • I have lived next to the Ravenna Arsenal for over 40 years. They have been flying Chinooks, Hueys and Cobras in and out of that place since I was born. If they are "conditioning" then they have been doing it for over 40 years. Try standing in the middle of your cornfield and have a C-130 Hercules blow the roof off of your house as they make approach to the Arsenal for a Low Drop.

  • Hope Homoland security don't bother you.

  • There is a National Guard base at the Akron Canton Airport which they might be based out of. They are obviously in training & are flying to local landing spots to get better at their craft. Think of these guys as "guardians of your freedom to speculate" but the reality is that they have families & regular civilian lives and often end up getting sent to Iraq or Afghanistan to get shot at.

  • There is a National Air Guard Reserve base in Canal Fulton, OH, down by Akron Canton Airport. They are very active, so it might be going down there, or coming from that area.
