December yearning for spring gardens, a look at my early summer garden this past year.

The music is from one of my favorite movies, The Ghost and Mrs Muir (Rex Harrison and Gene Tierney). The soundtrack score was written and conducted by Bernhard Herrmann.

The theme of the movie suggests December yearning for May and the desire for impossible things romantically but is primarily about a house. One of the many great house movies, imho.

The garden was just dirt when I moved in. Had a lot of fun making a muddy mess laying the brick path. After that, the garden took shape. Ferns in the shadey bits, lillies in the inbetween, with lots of low growth flowering plants that the bees just love.

Sitting in the garden is a true delight. Views of the bay often with shipping or pleasure boat traffic. The wind comes up off the water over the thyme/sweet williams carrying the buzzing of the bees and the smell of the flowers. The peacefulnes of sitting near the birds and bees with that aroma is truely summertime for me.

  • I have exposed cinder blocks in my back yard. I filled the holes w\ potting soil and planted

all kinds of herbs in them. It looks great.

  • That is a great idea, I'll bet it looks great and feels wonderful to solve the issue of "looks" with adding greenery.

  • I can see that you love your garden as I love mine! It's a wonderful thing to create your own bit of paradise!

  • Fun to see these older videos. Hadn't looked at this garden since I moved 6 mos ago. I do love to create a new garden out of nothing. Your vids show some really nice landscape, so you know what it is like to have more space to garden and just wander. Diff fun than a little garden. Glad I had the chance, now I'm really liking the challenge of big space.

  • beautiful and the music is a great accent

  • Thank you! Am creating a garden in my new place, but miss the old garden.

  • lovely garden! and the ghost and mrs. muir is one of my very favorite movies! I bought the dvd and watch it all the time. beautiful music. now you got me craving to watch it again. cheers!

  • Thanks! I didn't put in the cinderblock wall, but good suggestion. Currently I'm working on putting in the new garden, and making space for the chickens to run around and eat bugs in the new garden. Cheers!

  • beautiful job - if you use cynder blocks again at your new house - try a line of split logs in of front of them

  • Thank you! I miss this garden, have just moved and will be putting in a new garden but am just looking at brown hills and no flowers (except for those in pots on the deck). I'm so glad you like the music, too.
