Track 07
Hunstanton Pier
Deaf Havana
Album: Fools and Worthless Liars

All credit to "Deaf Havana" and label. I don't take any credit for the music, i just love their music and want to share with everyone,

Lyrics:
It was 2004 if I'm not mistake, when the poison hit my lips
And I haven't looked back since
I had friends back then and a PMA to match, we were young
And out of touch with the things we'd grow up to hate to much, in time

Back when my hair was long and Phil was still alive
We spent our days trying to speak, to the girls that left us weak
But now I'm ageing badly and my friends' been laid to rest
And the ones who let us in are pushing prams or raising twins

To tell you the truth I'd be lying if I said I didn't hate the city
I need the pier and the fresh sea air of the town that made me

In my heart and in my soul are all the people that I've known
And the places I called home
But in my mind they're all just things I left behind
Reminders of changing times, and these ageing bones of mine

Lee and me were schooled in a tourist town
With less culture than Jeremy Kyle
But it stole our hearts for a while
And most weekends I found nothing but regret
Between many a drink girls' legs
And in many a strangers' bed

To tell you the truth I'd be lying if I said I didn't hate the city
I need the pier and the fresh sea air of the town that made me

In my heart and in my soul are all the people that I've known
And the places I called home
But in my mind they're all just things I left behind
Reminders of changing times, and these ageing bones of mine

The one's who haven't died or started families
Are all just working on building sites or battling with university fees
And a girl I used to know made me a promise once
I wonder if she kept it, or if she even remembers it...

In my heart and in my soul are all the people that I've known
And the places I called home
But in my mind they're all just things I left behind
Reminders of changing times, and these ageing bones of mine

  • I know Hunstanton very well, and the place where they grew up is more or less where i grew up. but i'm still young, and this song inspires me to leave behind this little town and fulfill my dream, but never forget the place that made me <3

  • This song actually makes me cry. I spend every summer in Sligo, to be with the one person I trust more than anything. We spent our days jumping from Rosses Point pier, and swimming under the sunset. I'm going to get out of this town, and I'll eventually leave here and there, where the pier is, but I'll never forget the summers I had with Alison. I love you, James, for inspiring me to write and sing <3

  • Deaf Havana are f***ing amazing btw :)

  • Wish i could write a song about my hometown, Leicester, but i believe even if i wrote it with the best writers in the industry, the song would be shit! the end lol

  • I brought this album on the day of it's release, and I'll be as brutal and as frank as possible; it has been on CONSTANT repeat since, my favourite album of the year and some of the most personal and touching lyrics EVER written by anyone. How they pulled this off I do not know, as a musician myself looking to leave the town I have spent 18 years of my life in to go and write and work somewhere new... This song, this album deserves to be worldwide and listened to everyday.... Deaf Havana <3

  • I come from Devon and this song omg i relate to it so much i have moved away from their me and my friends every summer used to jump off the pier and the memories are just brilliant and wow this song is just so powerful it also relates to me because one of my friends is also dead

  • @ILChadKroeger Oh I know he's from Canada, however so is Justin Bieber and he is just as a big of a disgrace.

  • @karleighkatastrophy surely you would like it as he is from Canada?

  • @ILChadKroeger As a Canadian, I am exponentially disappointed in your youtube name.

  • Haha love how they incorperate Jeremy Kyle into a such a nice song.
