Julie demonstrates how to seperate the neck, wings, thighs, legs, breast, back and pully bone. Make sure you watch pt 1 where Russ goes over how best to kill, pluck and gut a chicken.

  • I think every person who eats meat should at least once have done this, including the initial cut killing the animal. Just to experience that meat is not something you just buy in the store. I'm no veggie, but that way you learn to respect the animal.

  • @starfishisland I never use gloves. This is our food and we are not selling it. We wash our hands and keep our knives and tables clean and bleached. We also keep our chickens healthy and wash and cook our food before we eat. It is very sanitary.

  • I found this video so informative it has given me the confidence to buy a whole chicken and butcher it into parts instead of roasting it whole like I usually do. Your approach was so straightforward and humble, much better than watching a professionally trained chef demo. I will definitely be using this video as a guide. thank you very much!

  • @petterhny i agree with you, im no veggie either, in fact, i looove meat, but yeh i also think that if you eat meat, you should take part in killing and gutting an animal

  • Hi guys, breaking the joins and cutting like that has an inherent draw back - shattered and broken bones. These get into your food and believe it or not are a great way to die. Shattered chicken bones are bad. Just find the joint and cut through it.

With the breast I tend to take them off - find the breast plate, slide down on each side from the top - perfect fillet every time, no bones.

Carcass is for stock, take the back fat off.

We call the but the popes nose in Australia - best bit.

  • not the best way but it gets it done i suppose

  • Americans are used to getting their foods from the stores. I think they will have a hard time surviving if stores are emptied of foods due to lack of transportation because of high oil prices. I used to live in Cambodia. I can easily adapt.

  • @RedKremlin17 its drained upon death, if its red when u skin it then...u must have gave it a painful death :S

  • Thank-you! This video is very helpful.
