New Hope Community Church in Portland, Oregon, hosted Ian Owens' debut concert as bass singer for Ernie Haase & Signature Sound on January 21, 2011. And what a concert it was! Ian has a few ropes to learn, but never fear, EH&SS fans--the group will be just fine with Ian.

This lineup consists of tenor and founding member Ernie Haase, Devin McGlamery (lead), Doug Anderson (baritone), and Ian Owens (bass).

  • Tim Duncan had been part of EHSS' for 8 years, and yet, how long have Ian Owens? I surely miss Tim, but to compare an 8 year career with what, one month is unfair. Goodluck for Ian, and thanks for Tim, for being a great bass singer

  • @lukassinterklas I am glad you posted this. This was Ian's FIRST CONCERT with EH&SS--not even one month. I thought he did a great job, and it takes awhile to "mesh" with a group.

  • @DJRanchIncorperated Well like i said i cant be sure maybe you're right (i sure hope you're not) lol and as far as being respectful goes - if I being a Christian dont show it, then who in the world will? It has been a pleasure exchanging thoughts with you as well!

  • @670SV Well I guess we'll just have to respectfully disagree. I have been singing Bass for over 20 years and he is " Flipping " into vocal fry. I appreciate your respect. That is hard to come by on Youtube anymore.

  • @DJRanchIncorperated I have listened really closely to the part where he goes to the double low G and at least in my opinion there was no break in his voice on the way down. It did however go quieter mostly because of the other 3 parts being loud, but there was no loss of sound. I looked over other videos and heard a very clear break in sound probably for extra air to sustain the low note but not in this song, but thats my opinion maybe a vocal instructor can clear this up

  • @670SV It is a double low G, same note he sings in Canton Junction. In Canton Junction, when he slides down to the G, you can hear his voice crackle (for lack of a better term) before he hits the G. That is his voice transitioning from chest to fry. He is a great singer. I never take that away from him.

  • @DJRanchIncorperated That Canton Junction song was just amazing, I havent personally heard that break in Tims voice when he goes seriously low but check out his studio recording from back in the day with Poet Voices or something like that - type in: Tim duncan it'll be joy, there you can clearly here him go super low with a clear and full voice, im not sure what note he hits but its one of his lowest.

  • @670SV I agree with you whole heartily and I have Canton Junction favorited already. The G he hits is good, just not sure if it is in full voice. I hear a break in his register around an A1 every time he goes to the G1 which tells me he may be going into fry.

  • @DJRanchIncorperated When I hear a lower bass I enjoy it, but the thing thats so special about Tim Duncan is that he is such a well rounded bass singer. He has a very special & clear bass voice, plus for a bass singer as low as him he sings incredibly well in his upper register. He isn't the lowest but definitely one of the best. PS if you think he isnt low enough check out Canton Junction:Sweeter as the days go, see what you think! I'll take a look at those other singers

  • @psalmofpraise I can tell you for a fact that Royce is a household name in my house. And people will most certainly hear of him soon in the east. I know he is pretty well known in the Sevierville, Tennessee area. Smokey mountains love Royce.

  • @DJRanchIncorperated Thanks for the Royce Mitchell mention; he's my first cousin and most definitely one of my favorite singers!! You must be from the west coast; not all that many people in the east know about him (yet)...!

  • @670SV What do you do when you hear a lower bass singers, Like Tim Riley, Jeff Chapman, Royce Mitchell, Jeff Pearls, Eric Bennett, David Hester, Gene McDonald ect. They are all lower than Tim Duncan. If the bass singer is the only reason you listen, then you have been missing out. All of these guys I mentioned are better and lower. And did I mention that there really is a message in these songs?
