First of all, awesome tone and so clean ! My question : you've got a 6 notes pattern ("part2") that you pick like this (if i'm not mistaken) : G up D up G down Bb down D up Bb pull off (=up) So you've got 2xdown and 4xup (3xup+1po) for a 6 notes pattern... Why don't you use the standard up up up down down down pattern ? Is it a way to kill the "roundish" effect of a 3xup 3xdown picking pattern ?

thanks man.. youre really good at playing, ya know that? ive seen a lot of videos about 3 string sweeps, but no one ever really talked about avoiding the g string on downstroke. i guess i could have figured it out myself, but some help from a pro always comes in handy. well the sweeps sound great, keep playin!

you get better rythm if the g string is a downstroke.

@ILikeToShred no really :D
It took a long while to learn it. You see, i noticed how yngwie malmsteen does this on his 3 string arpeggios to great rhytmic effect. And it also kind of eliminates the problems with hitting the g on the way down. The b string is an upstroke and then you skip upward over the g before you hit it downwards.

@infectionsman Yea, but you could also hit the G string by accident when going past it to do a downstroke, so if you use a more circular motion, which isn't difficult, you don't have that problem, and it's more fluid! But If you are after that Malmsteen sound, then i completely agree with you!

@ILikeToShred yea the hardest part is learning to skip the G properly. The idea is that the downstroke breaks the sweep pattern and thus produces a more accentuated "thud". different techniques for different solos i guess

@infectionsman Yea! Sometimes it's really cool! Gilbert for example! I love his playing so much because it's so percussive! every note he plays has that "thud"!!
