http://gurneys.com/peach-trees/c/33/ - In this video, Felix from Gurney's Seed & Nursery discusses how to prune a 2 year old peach tree. This example is of a peach tree that was planted last year. It's a very healthy tree, but in the year following planting, pruning is a necessity to ensure fruit development. We talk about the basics of tree pruning - when to prune, and how to prune.

  • I have a peach tree here in australia that is coming on its 3 year and has 150 tiny friut should I take most of them off? cheers

  • Hi - nice video, very informative. I have 2 Belle of Georgia I bought from a local nursery here in Greenville, SC and planted last spring. They were about 4 feet high then and I didn't do any pruning b/c they had fruit (I mistakenly thought this was a good sign). Any way, I know realize I should have cut back to 24-30 inches into a whip, but failed to do so. The trees are now about 5 feet high - can I do this drastic of a cut now? If so, when should I do it?

  • jiggaa21, that would take too much off and stress the tree too much this year. Next year the tree will be more established and it won't be a hardship to take the next three limbs off.

  • You said "next year these 3 will come off". Why don't you cut those lower scaffolds off now? Wouldn't that help speed up the growth on the top 3 scaffolds instead of distributing the energy to 6 limbs?
