This compilation of the world's most mysterious places on Google Earth includes Oak Island, Area 51, the Pyramid of the Sun & Moon, various figures from Nazca, the Atacama Giant, Loch Ness, Arbor Low, Stonehenge, Avebury, Silbury Hill, St. Michael's Mount, Ankor Wat, Ayers Rock, the Olgas, and Maree Man.

May I suggest as a firm starting and even landing place for excellent, scholarly yet readable History, the works of Will Durant - author of the Story of Civilization series, Mansions of Philosophy, etc.  C.W. Ceram - author of Hands on the Past, Gods, Graves, and Scholars, etc. Charles Berlitz, eminent linguist. Usborne is company crap.

@arhatyellow Thanks for those tips, I'm checking them out. I thought Berlitz was pretty suspect about his Bermuda Triangle book which really stretches the evidence. Don't know who Usborne is.
