The Shofar Horn must be from a kosher animal ,
it can not be a cow horn because of the golden
calf incident in Exodus 32 .
The two most often used are the
short Ram's horn, and the much longer
Kudu horn ( from an African Antelope ).
In ancient times ( and in the future ) the horn
shall be used to sound a sharp attention that
friends or foes alike will be called or warned.
There are actually Four sound Variations heard
on the video and they are described in this way :
FIRST , the 'Tekiah' - one single plain and straight
blast, initial smooth and unbroken note, meant to
resonate with both Joy and Happiness .
SECOND , the 'Shevarim' - this comes by Three
short blasts that are distinct and broken notes to
symbolize a call to Repentence and express Grief .
THIRD , the 'Teruah' - Rapid successive blasts go
in a group of Nine staccato notes . These refer to
an apprehensive state, sometimes of deep crying.
The beginning 3 of these 9 notes come from the
actual Hebrew meaning 'to thrust through'.
FOURTH , the 'Tekiah Gedolah' - defined as the
Great Tekiah, similar to the First blast; yet Much
Longer in duration, indicating Redemption Hope.
