I remember this show well when I was a young kid in the 1950s and his ability to create pictures on a blank sheet of paper inspired me to try and learn to draw.

i used to watch his programs on tv when i was a kid.
it has still stuck with me, since i still love to draw ans sketch in my spare time.

When I was a kid, about 9 years old, I got a Jon Gnagy drawing kit for Xmas. This would have been around 1971 when Gnagy was no longer on TV, but I guess they were still selling stuff with his name on it. I didn't even know who he was, except they had his picture on the box in a TV screen, so I guessed he must have done art on TV, but until I saw this, I had never actually seen any part of any of his shows.

Thank you to Exprex for submitting these. A real joy. I spoke (through email) with his daughter not long ago and she is thrilled that so many are discovering her father's contribution to art instruction.

Oh, this is so awesome ... Like stepping back in time. It's been FIFTY years since I've seen this and I must emphasize how grateful I am for Exprex providing this rare, high-quality footage to us. Yes, I now can clearly remember Jon Gnagy's distinctive show opening. Thank you, Exprex ... Thank you!
